— North Carolina State University head football coach Dave Doeren has signed a new five-year contract, the school announced Tuesday.

The new contract runs through 2023 and raises Doeren's annual salary from $3 million to $3.25 million.

"I’m grateful for the commitment and support N.C. State has provided to my family and I," Doeren said in a statement. "This university and community are home to us. We’re excited with what we’re building with N.C. State football, and I look forward to continuing to lead this program."

The new contract was negotiated last November, immediately following the Wolfpack’s 9-3 season, and was recently approved by the university's Board of Trustees and University of North Carolina system officials.

Through Doeren’s first six years leading the Wolfpack, his teams have earned five consecutive bowl appearances (2014-18) and recorded back-to-back 9-win seasons in 2017 and 2018. N.C. State’s 11 wins in the Atlantic Coast Conference over the last two seasons rank second in the league.

N.C. State’s 2019 recruiting class is ranked among the Top 25 nationally, and the Wolfpack ranked second among all college football programs with seven players selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. Six players were invited to the NFL Combine this winter in advance of the 2019 draft.

N.C. State will host its annual Kay Yow Spring Football Game at 1 p.m. April 6 at Carter-Finley Stadium.
